Elizabeth Akehurst-Moore is a premier choice for the Select Board. I have personally known Elizabeth for years. If I had to choose the ideal attributes for a Concord Select Board member, I would want someone who is more than familiar with the law, given the complexities of running a town. Elizabeth is an attorney and a member of the bar.
I would want someone who has more than a basic grasp of business, as Concord is essentially a multi-milliondollar business with its residents as consumers. Elizabeth is an accomplished, successful Concord business owner and manager of the large operation at Millbrook Tarry. Elizabeth’s financial experience in business will benefit us all in helping to manage Concord’s fiscal path. We desperately need this financial experience.
I would ideally want someone who is a parent. Elizabeth and her husband have four children, and they all have a vested interest in Concord’s educational and civic offerings now and in the future. We are fortunate that Elizabeth is currently giving her time and experience to help guide the MCI project. She is already up to speed on the planning, and having her on the Select Board now would be a huge benefit for us all. We have many infrastructure projects in the planning stages here in Concord that ultimately will have a huge impact on us taxpayers. It makes perfect sense that we need a Select Board member who knows what staying on or under budget means and what is affordable or not.
The town of Concord needs someone on the Select Board that can fill all the wants above and more. Elizabeth Akehurst-Moore is that person. Opportunities for talent like this don’t come along that often. Thank you, Elizabeth.
